Hospital Policies

Montpelier Veterinary Hospital is proud to provide our clients and their pets with quality care. As a full-service facility, our day-to-day schedule includes everything from wellness checks to surgery and lab work. To keep our clinic running smoothly, we have implemented several standards and policies.

Appointment Policy

To reduce wait time, we ask that our clients schedule their appointments in advance, rather than walking-in. Of course, we do make exceptions for emergency situations. If your pet is experiencing a sudden illness or medical crisis, please bring him in immediately.

Otherwise, our office is happy to help you schedule an appointment. Let us know your preferred time for a visit and we will fit it into our schedule. If you are a new client, we have a few forms for you to fill out in advance. Call us at 804-883-5511 to get started.

Arrival Policy

When you bring your pet in for an appointment, please make sure he remains on-leash or in a carrier. This policy ensures that all of our clients, human and animal, feel safe and comfortable within our waiting room.

Once your pet is called in for his appointment, you may accompany him to the treatment room. Or, you can opt to leave him in our care while you remain in the waiting room. You may even choose to leave and return when the appointment is over. If you have any questions about our arrival/waiting room policies, please give us a call.

Payment Policy

It is our policy that all treatments, tests, and examinations be paid for upfront, at the time of the appointment. We also ask for direct payment for any prescriptions, food, or products purchased from our clinic.

Our front office will be happy to accept payment in the form of personal checks, or cash. We can also process payments via American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa.

Pet Pharmacy & Products

Montpelier Veterinary Hospital - Online Pet Pharmacy

Montpelier Veterinary Hospital carries a large selection of heartworm and flea and tick products. We do not recommend over-the-counter products since they are not as effective as prescription medications. We realize that there are so many products out there, that all work differently, but at Montpelier Veterinary Hospital, our experienced staff will help you pick out the product(s) that will be the best for your pet(s) and your lifestyle. We carry these products at competitive prices, including many discounts and specials throughout the year.

Montpelier Veterinary Hospital also carries all of the major prescription diets, including Hill’s, Purina and Royal Canin. We also carry a wide range of dental hygiene products, including dental diets, treats, water additives, toothpastes, and chews.

We have a fully stocked in-house pharmacy for your convenience, so that at the time of your visit you will have any medications that your pet needs.

We also carry a wide variety of chew toys and enrichment toys for your pets as well!

Drop-Off Service

We know that we all lead busy lives, and making time for a veterinary appointment can be difficult. For those times, we are pleased to offer a drop-off appointment service. Drop off your pet in the morning between 7:30 am - 9 am, and we will take care of them until you are ready to pick up! Later drop off times may also be accommodated. Drop-off fee is $27.
